Featured Student in Week 12-2: Will Anderson

Featured Student in Week 12-2: Will Anderson

My name is Will Anderson, and I’m a creative writing major. I’ve written a couple short stories in my time here at FSU, but mostly I stick to poetry. I’ve a soft spot for children’s books. I use Instagram most of the time for social media. Pictures show more but take up less of my time, and I don’t like the drama that crops up so easily on platforms like Facebook and Twitter. I read a lot of articles on the internet. I don’t like to waste time on the internet, especially since it’s one of the best pools of information our generation will ever know. I practice minimalism, and frequently purge my unneeded belongings. I generally dislike overcomplicate tech or anything really. Interesting fact: I’ve worked as a lumberjack.

Hey y’all, my name is Anna. Born and raised in a small town in Central Florida, you could say that I’m a small town girl with big city dreams. So, naturally, I made a blog. My father always told me that I would be an author one day and, as an English Education major, maybe a blog is the first step in the right direction. Either way, feel free to follow up with my posts and comment if interested. Thanks for reading!

Featured Student in Week6: Richard 'Dick' Smith

Hi, My name is Richard Errington Smith but I also go by Dick. My major is Pre-Social Science Education, this basically means I am going to school to become a History Teacher. My Professional Goal is to become a High School History Teacher, preferably teaching World History. I want to pass on a love of history and show young minds that History can be fun and entertaining. Featured Student in Week5: Josh Battat

Featured Student in Week5: Josh Battat
Visit Josh's "For Everyone's Eyes"

My name as I said previously is Josh Battat. However, my full name is Joshua Samuel Battat and I am from Wellington, Florida. I was actually born in Freehold, New Jersey and moved here about twelve years ago. I have three siblings, two brothers and a sister; we have two dogs and one just so happens to be a yappy corgi. Also, I have been in a relationship for two years with my girlfriend who recently transferred up to Tallahassee. Anyways, I am here at Florida State University to receive a degree in sport management with a minor in business.
My professional and long-term goal, albeit might seem far-fetched, is to be a general manager in Major League Baseball; hopefully I can get an opportunity with the New York Mets. In my future profession technology is taking over. General managers now are not just players or people who were involved with baseball in some way, they are people with a background in analytics, business, and even computer sciences. Educational technologies are what help set the people applying for these positions apart from one another. Having a solid background in technology is more important than ever in a baseball profession now.
I am constantly on my phone using Snapchat, Twitter, Facebook, and, Instagram trying to stay up-to-date with all my friends and family. I use Twitter mainly to stay updated with baseball transactions and I follow many MLB beat writers, columnists, and insiders, so I always know what is going on during the baseball offseason. I am very excited to take EME 2040 and I feel that it this class will enhance my technological skills and lead me to do greater things in my desired profession.

Featured Student in Week 4: Tori Lutz

Featured Student in Week 4: Tori Lutz

My name is Tori! I’m a Creative Writing major and Education and Entrepreneurship minor at FSU and I am aiming to graduate Spring 2018. After this, I hope to go to graduate school either in New York or London for either writing or journalism (not yet decided) and I hope to be a professional writer of some variety in the future.
I think educational technologies are important for any career path I choose because it will always help in efficiently writing, whether it be by myself or part of a newspaper or anything in between. I frequently use Facebook, Snapchat, and Instagram, but I’m not the biggest fan of Twitter. I like to use the Internet to stay in touch with people as well as keep up with my classes and a small business that I run. I’m always excited to talk about Harry Potter, my spoken word poetry club Poetic Lyricism (or poetry/literature in general), Hamilton, or any passion or topic that excites you. I’m a fairly open book, and 4 a.m. conversations are my favorite.

Featured Student in Week2: Chip Nettina

Featured Student in Week2: Chip Nettina

Hi, my name is Robert Nettina but call me Chip. I am a history major with a museum studies minor and I am in my second semester of my Sophomore year here at FSU. I hope to one day get my Masters and Doctorate with a focus on how wartime technology developed during the first and second world wars. I would like to become either a professor at a major university or work at a museum working with artifacts. I believe education technology is important because technology is here, and with it being such a big aspect in our lives it will start to spread and as a professor I would need PowerPoint and word to make test and presentations and to write books and make proposals for grants. I do use all the major social media outlets but I don’t really post instead I just keep up with what my family are doing because they all live far away. I enjoy watching YouTube and Netflix but I really enjoy playing video games with my little brother since I don’t see him while I’m down at FSU. Outside of classes I enjoy watching sports and playing soccer but mostly I work at The Den on campus. I do hope I can start coaching kids playing soccer soon but I don’t know when this may be.
